"Exit through the gift shop"

Death Giftshop is the multi-disciplinary media work of Matthew Vonesh. Matthew is a photographer, filmmaker, and craftsperson

who strongly believes in the life affirming gift of death literacy and the idea of momento mori (Latin: remember you will die).

Using this lens for the various projects he takes on, Matthew is asking himself the hard questions about life,

what it means to be a person existing as part of the natural world, and what it means to live in community.

A huge part of death literacy is knowing that we have options and specifically what those options are where you live in the world. Check out this promo I did for a green burial cemetery in my home state! -Matthew

Maker Maker

Not everything I make is about death – you've gotta live too, right?

This is just a little unboxing video I did of a product from a maker that I admire and look up to. Product design & packaging with durability and sustainability in mind? Hell yeah!

If Death owned a giftshop what stuff from your life would you want to see on the shelves?
